  • Overview

    To adjust and settle all assigned claims in Crop Hail and farm liability fairly and efficiently.  This position works independently as needed during the crop season, through Western Iowa.

    Responsibilities

    • Contacting agents and insureds to set up claims.

     

     

    • Walking fields to assess damages, assess damage using adjusting manuals, and complete worksheets and proof of loss forms.

     

     

    • Checking crops by taking counts, pulling plants to examine and record findings.

     

     

    • Attend company classroom training to gain and maintain knowledge about company processes and agronomy industry trends.

     

     

    • Senior adjusters will provide training for the new hires on the procedures of adjusting crops.

    • The crop adjuster deals with many types of people which can be stimulating yet also demanding and stressful.

     

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside in various weather conditions.

     

    • The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

     

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

     

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to talk and hear.

     

    • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of farming practices is preferred.

     

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

     

    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

     

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

     

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

     

    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
