  • Overview

    Under minimal supervision conducts research and development activities for the personal or commercial lines organizational products and evaluates insurance industry developments to update company products and procedures.  


    • Researches, analyzes, and interprets statutes, regulations, bulletins and insurance department rulings related to product offerings for both new and existing products within the Property & Casualty lines of business to determine impact and take appropriate action to ensure legal compliance.


    • Creates new endorsements and products by executing project work plans. This includes coordination of product design, development and implementation with all departments and customers affected by each product.  


    • Presents information both written and verbal reports to stakeholders, management, and affected departments to facilitate understanding of work, analysis, changes, and final recommendation. Presentations may also be for training and informational purposes in either large or small group. 


    • Maintains detailed documentation of all aspects of project development, including management decisions, for future reference. 



    • Creates and maintains lists, manuals, matrices, tables, and reports for reference and system access.  


    • Prepares documentation for regulatory (rule and form) filings to state Departments of Insurance based on deadlines and criteria specified by line of business for each state.


    • Acts as an expert resource regarding personal or commercial lines products and procedures related to underwriting, claims, policy processing, and statutory/regulatory requirements.


    • Identifies potential problems and develops resolutions proactively, to ensure minimal impact to business units. 


    • Assists with continuous improvements of business processes by making recommendations to the unit for new functionality or changes to existing functions that will improve processes, lower costs or enhance usability.  


    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • May be required to work overtime to meet strict deadlines associated with projects. Performs work in a collaborative and agile work environment. 


    • The position is physically located in the home office with a work environment of a typical office setting; noise level is relatively quiet and occasional stress is encountered as deadlines approach. The position requires an individual to sit for long periods of time, perform repetitive movement and exposure to eye strain associated with working on computer monitors.


    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a minimum of two years property casualty insurance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 


    • Ability to understand complex insurance terminology and possess working knowledge of Commercial and/or Personal Lines insurance products.  Certificate in General Insurance or equivalent is preferred. CPCU or CIC designation or progress towards designation recommended.


    • Ability to identify and initiate projects that are varied in scope and complexity and work through analysis, development, delivery and implementation.  


    • Ability to manage multiple and/or conflicting priorities with multiple interruptions. 


    • Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-workers, supervisor, customers and general public.  


    • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and apply to current and future business situations


    • Ability to communicate information both written and verbally in a logical manner to explain and support a recommendation. 


    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.


    • Ability to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. 


    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.  


    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and determine appropriate level of information dissemination based on work related considerations.  


    • Possesses strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high quality products.


    • Ability to learn or have prior knowledge of SERFF (System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing) and Project Management Workflow/SharePoint System.
