  • Overview

    Protects and manages the movement of software releases through the build, test, and production environments. The Release Manager ensures there is a proper structure in place to allow the company to scale projects and processes efficiently.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops common strategies for release governance across multiple departments.
    • Establishes consistent release management processes.
    • Facilitates cross-department coordination of release management functions.
    • Tracks an enterprise-wide release calendar.
    • Informs senior management of enterprise-wide exposure to release risk and effectively mitigate it.
    • Measures release cadence and effectiveness using common metrics across the entire software portfolio.
    • Creates common standards and formats for release playbooks and works with production control to standardize release decision-making.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    • The position is physically located in the office with a work environment of a typical office setting; noise level is relatively quiet. The position requires an individual to sit for long periods of time, use repetitive motion, and possess visual acuity demanded by work with computer and other LCD screen devices. 
    • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force and to lift up to 10 pounds.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience, plus three (3) years or more of information technology experience, such as Release Management or code development, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Five (5) or more years of working in software delivery preferred.
    • Strong project management skills with accountability for end-to-end delivery. 
    • Experience in governing both waterfall as well as Agile/DevOps project lifecycles. 
    • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). 
    • Knowledge of ITIL standards and best practices. 
    • Ability to think logically and to continually use personal judgment, experience, known facts and figures to make decisions and deal with issues and opportunities.   
    • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge as well as industry concepts to move the organization towards meeting strategic objectives.  
    • Possesses sound analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills to recognize processing/application system inefficiencies or new design opportunities, including potential impact to other systems.  Demonstrates an ability to collaborate with others to recommend end-to-end improvements.  
    • Strong verbal and written skills in order to respond to customers, develop staff members, make presentations for management and represent the company at professional functions and meetings.  Demonstrated ability to maintain open, effective communication with internal and external customers.   
    • Proven ability to influence key stakeholders and decision makers. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a harmonious manner with company management, peers, customers and agents.
    • Ability to keep a regular work schedule and maintain regular, predictable attendance.  
    • Maintains confidentiality. 
    • Limited travel including an occasional overnight may be required to attend training or user group conference, visit customer or vendor location.  Ability to adhere to our Fleet Safety Policy.
