  • Overview

    This position is responsible for the day-to-day connection between personal lines underwriting, agent technology enhancements, and the impacts to other business units across the organization. Activities will include communication and coordination of training activities to internal and external customers on underwriting and technology updates, product, rate and process changes, and system enhancements to impacted departments.


    • Serves as member of CONNECT project representing the personal lines underwriting and sales teams with focus on the agent-facing technology. Develop a deep knowledge of external customer’s business practices. Gathers agent feedback, understands their needs, and helps prioritize these needs. When changes are implemented, will cascade the information to the impacted groups and identify and coordinate if any further training or communication is needed.


    • This position will triage for urgency needed around fixes and work with IT teams to prioritize accordingly. When there are issues, this role is the lead on writing user stories to correct issues in the portal.


    • This position will be strongly connected to the customer needs and wants.  This role will work closely with MCX research to write up user stories for enhancements and prioritize those in the future.


    • This role will oversee the communication to affected parties when technology changes go to production as well as communicate and assist with the agent-facing tutorial changes necessary to agent training.  


    • This role will spearhead the agent training & communication efforts in the future. 


    • Assist in documenting external processes and procedures in personal lines underwriting. Measure and communicate the business value realized in process improvements.


    • This role will oversee the personal lines agent technology as new technology enters into new states, provide ongoing training and communication for system changes and conversion of business to internal and external users.


    • Manage the comparative rater strategy and agency management system oversight for personal lines underwriting department.


    • Communication and training audiences can include Sales and Underwriting management, front-line team members, agents and other impacted departments.


    • Ensure that project managers understand the agents’ technology needs; engage as a stakeholder to represent the needs of external customers.


    • Manage projects that impact multiple business units. Ensure project progress, including managing escalation and avoiding risk.


    Supervisory responsibilities:


    • Supervise a CO-OP student when there is a business need

    • Requires regular and predictable attendance to meet customer service demands


    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.



    • Experience or familiarity in Underwriting or Sales; both is a plus


    • Experience multiple training delivery methods; face-to-face, email, instructor-led, and computer-based training.


    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals is required. Demonstrated experience building effective relationships and collaborating with stakeholders, employees, and colleagues.


    • Knowledge of the market, solutions and services our company provides, and that of our competitors. Research insurance market trends with the perspective of developing new business relationships, retaining our current customers, and increasing profitability.


    • Proven history of process documentation or willingness to learn standardized practice.


    • Demonstrated ability to work independently or with a team. Must show initiative, work collaboratively, and provide contributions towards results.  


    • Demonstrated ability towards problem solving and root cause identification.


    • Demonstrated communication skills including oral, written, and presentation skills.


    • Ability to apply critical thinking to identify seemingly unrelated items that are connected or farther reaching than the owner perceives.


    • Ability to identify customer needs and challenges to ensure support and services meet their needs.
