  • Overview

    This is a temporary, part-time position that provides general service, repair and maintenance support to company buildings and grounds ranging from general office equipment, workstations maintenance, custodial service, attending to pool vehicles, salvage retrieval, and cafeteria support.


    • Assists with outside building and grounds maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming shrubs, bushes and trees and weeding and tending flower beds. Assists with snow and ice removal from walkways, sidewalks, etc. 


    • Assists with inside building maintenance including painting areas, dismantling/constructing work areas and moving furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Assists with cleaning and maintenance of work areas, storage areas, tools and machinery. 


    • Assists with inventory tracking of company furniture, computer equipment and other miscellaneous equipment. 


    • Maintains and cleans company vehicles by washing, waxing, vacuuming and shampooing carpets and upholstery, cleaning glass, polishing vinyl, checks fluid levels, measures tire pressure, fills with gas and conducts safety inspections.  


    • Assists with pick up and delivery of claim salvage, field equipment or furniture. Prepares salvage, equipment or furniture for reassignment, sale, or disposal. 


    • Performs custodial activities such as vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, restocking supplies, emptying trash and recycling containers, clean white boards, tables, windows, doors, vents, etc. in order to maintain the building in and clean and sanitary condition. 


    • May assist food services area by operating dishwasher or running cash register.


    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be indoors in a controlled climate or outside exposed to adverse weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration, particularly when operating vacuum cleaner, lawnmower or other similar machinery and equipment.


    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally is loud with moderate fumes while operating equipment.


    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.


    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


    • High School education and related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 


    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. 


    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.


    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 


    • Must possess and maintain current, valid drivers license and a satisfactory driving record.


    • Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-employees and supervisors.


    • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.


    • Ability to accept supervision and work independently to follow instructions. 


    • Ability to make decisions based on established guidelines.


    • Ability to use interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-employees, customers and the general public with tact and courtesy.


    • Ability to operate hand tools. Ability to climb and work from a ladder as needed.
